Airport TransportationTwo companies specialize in service between the San Francisco Airport and Tiburon/nearby Highway 101 exits.. Marine Door-to-Door Shuttle -- Phone: (415) 457-2717 -- FAX: (415) 721-1421A 24-hour service that will pick you up and bring you to your door. Their vans accommodate 7 to 9 passengers. The one-way cost is $30 for the first person and $12 for each additional person in your group. Make sure you have reservations at least 24 hours before your flight (but I would make them much earlier given that AMTA will be a large group arriving during a brief interval of time). If you mention the name of the group (AMTA), they will try to match you up with other conference participants arriving at similar times and with your same destination. Picks up at the airport every 1/2 hour at the lower (baggage claim) level from the central (courtesy pickup) island. In Marin Country, it picks up every 1/2 hour at Seminary Drive, about 5 minutes after the hour and 1/2 hour (the Golden Gate Bus Pad). The driver can call you a cab to go into Tiburon. The one-way cost is $13 per person. There are several other general airport shuttle services that will be more expensive unless you make group arrangements. A possible one is: Super Shuttle 558-8500 -- Phone: (415) 461-4222They only provide exclusive service to Marin County. Soma: South of Market, is two square miles of hot nightclubs, fashionable restaurants, experimental theaters, discount shopping outlets and art galleries. Bordering SoMa to the east is another emerging area known as the City Front District, encompassing the Steuart Street area north of Justin Herman Plaza and the Ferry Building.
The Castro: Steep streets and brightly painted Victorian houses give this upper Market "Gay Mecca" neighborhood that distinct San Francisco look. The Castro is a series of imaginative boutiques, bookstores and bars. Novelty items abound in shops at the end of Market Street between 16th and 17th Streets. Built in 1922 the Castro Theater, 429 Castro Street, survives as one of the last grand movie palaces, featuring revivals and pre-film concerts on the mighty Wurlitzer 18th and Castro Streets. Fisherman's Wharf: Eighty-seven percent of San Francisco's visitors include Fisherman's Wharf on their itinerary. With good reason. Waterfront marketplaces include The Anchorage, The Cannery, Ghirardelli Square and PIER 39. Golden Gate Bridge and Golden Gate Park: The Tiburon Lodge and Conference Center is located only seven minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge has been heralded as one of the top ten construction achievements of the 20th Century.
